SOUTHERN STARS SYMPHONIC BRASS present MARCH MADNESS on behalf of Alcoa High School Band

This concert is presented by the 30 piece professional brass ensemble, theSouthern Stars Symphonic Brass, which is modeled on a typical British style brass band. They are comprised of top musicians from Eastern and Middle Tennessee and draw from university music professors and secondary music educators from Nashville, Murfreesboro, Cookeville, Crossville and Knoxville areas. The concert is sponsored by the Alcoa HS Band program and its director, Mr. Bryant Adler. Mr. Adler was the receipent of an all expense paid educational trip to England to observe the British Brass Band Championships. This trip was provided in a national competition by the Hilton Honors "Teacher Treks Program" and the Institute of International Education.
The concert program will showcase several marches, but will also include a wide variety of music styles including a typical contest piece used in brass band championship competitions, Broadway and movie themes, a Stephen Foster classic, and a classic popular selection. The concert will also feature select high school brass musicians from Blount/Seveir County, who will join the Southern Stars for a few selections in the program.
This concert will show the audience what a traditional British style brass band looks like and how it sounds.
